INTRO TO ACRYLIC PAINTING – VIDEO SERIES 1

Welcome to my virtual studio!

I’ve worked hard to create a series of easy-to-follow videos instructing you how to paint. (You wouldn’t believe how many days it takes to create a 5 minute video!) You can work at your own pace by pausing the video when you need to catch up, or take a break. If you have any questions you may email me and I’ll reply as soon as I can.
I hope you find these videos valuable and you will continue your creative journey!

1 – Supplies & Helpful Hints

Learn what supplies you’ll need: type of paints and basic colours, brush types, palette, palette knives, etc.. Learn how to hold a brush. Learn how to mix paints. And, learn how to dispose of excess paints, and how to wash your brushes, so they’ll last a long time. Bonus: How to keep your paints wet/workable longer.

2 – The Colour Wheel – Why It’s Important!

Together, we’ll paint the colour wheel and an extended version of the colour wheel. You’ll learn about primary colours, secondary colours, and tertiary colours. The colour wheel is a good reference for future painting – you’ll learn why as you progress through the videos. These exercises are good for practicing mixing paints to any colour.  (Give yourself about 1 hour to complete the exercises. Or pause the video and work at your own pace.)

3 – Painting Exercises for the Beginner

We’ll do more painting exercises, such as mixing complimentary colours, and learning how to mix shades, tints, and glazes. These exercises will take your colour mixing to the next level! (Give yourself about 2 hours to complete the exercises. Or pause the video and work at your own pace.)

4 – Basic Painting Techniques

You’ll watch a demo and then try it yourself! Learn stippling, painting a gradient, and blending. Then we’ll practice what we learned and paint a sphere, together step-by-step. (Give yourself about 2 hours to complete the exercises. Or pause the video and work at your own pace.)
